Torn between the man who’s come to protect her, and the one sent todestroy her, she teeters on the edge of contemplation…
What does it mean for those she loves….and the rest of mankind?
I am not personally one to read paranormal type of stories. Then again you have stories like these that just suck you into their world and captivate you. K. Anne Raines is an excellent author they way the story is told makes you feel part of it. The story starts off with grace being a few weeks shy of her 18th birthday. She is devestated when her grandfater passes because he is the only one that ever really accepted her for her unique gift. She has always been casted aside from other family members. Her father disappread 15 years ago and her mother was well not really there for her. While she is grieving for the loss of her grandfather she is approaced by Quentin he was her grandfathers lawyer. Sorry but that is all I can say here because I am not giving any more of that away.
Needless to say Quentin befriends her. He begins to hang out with her to keep an eye on her and make sure she is safe. During a concert at a local coffee house she come into contact with Darius. Ok now I am like she is stuck between two hotties. What to do? What to do? You have Quentin who is you typical swoon worthy male and you have Darius who is more the bad boy. Let's just say Grace spends some time with Darius and Quentin is not too fond of that idea.

“This next one’s called ‘Killing Man’ by Jack Savoretti.”Darius put the mic back in its stand and the band began a slow, ominous rhythmthat shushed the crowd. Darius’ eyes closed as he hung on to the mic like alifeline.
Grace’s knees trembled. This guy was definitely a danger tothe heart. Her mind shot off warning bells to leave. Now. She bit the inside of her cheek, ignoring it, and tightened herfingers around her knees. The melodyswam over her, making her shiver. She took in a cursory breath, and struggledto take in another.
She should get up now, walk away. But the first linechained her to her seat.In the haunting timbre of his voice was an outpouring ofemotion that completely captivated her heart. Everyone and everything fell awayas she sat enslaved, caught up in every word he sang. The song was a crying outof his soul. She felt it as surely as she felt her own heartbeat."
In the middle of the whole love triangle Grace was also entrusted with a whole load of responsibility. No not the type of responsibility to figure out which hottie to go with it is more on like line of saving the earth and those around her. Being the 17 year old she does not want it and wants no part of it. In the end she has not choice to accept it and it is a long road for poor Quentin with a bratty 17 year old. I personally felt so bad for him.

He turned and rested his shoulder against the door frame, staring deeply into her eyes. Even in the dim light, Grace could see theinstant his gaze switched from playful to intense. Down there in the closedconfines of the underground, it became more than just a stare. It seemed likethe stare sucked the air right out of the hallway, because she suddenlycouldn’t breathe. Her heart rate spiked simultaneously, making it that muchharder to gasp for the depleted oxygen quietly. Grace took a step backward andher shoulder blades pressed into the wall. She held the bag against her chest, hoping to seem at ease, even though his gaze made her want to squirm.
Slowly, Quentin folded his arms over his chest as well andcrossed one foot over the other, never taking his eyes from hers. A devilishgrin turned the edges of his mouth up like horns, and she couldn’t take itanymore. “What?”
“Nothing,” he replied, turning his head and smirking at thewall. When he pushed himself away from the door frame, the hole-boringintensity was gone. “Relax.” Right, she sighed mentally."
Meanwhile, as Grace is in denial there is destruction surfacing at all corners. The question is will Grace stand up and take the responsibility that she was giving by her gransfather or will she just let it all go? I really cant go oon about much more becasue I do not want to give the story away. It is a definite must read.
